MMA Crossfire – WBO set to strip Floyd Mayweather of welterweight crown

No wonder Floyd Mayweather Jr. was so generous after the Manny Pacquiao fight, offering in the post-fight press conference to relinquish his titles.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) is set to strip Mayweather of their welterweight crown as per the rule that fighters cannot belts in multiple divisions.

The WBO is still waiting for a response from Mayweather.

To keep his WBO middleweight belt, Mayweather must vacate his WBC/WBA belts at 154 pounds, titles which he hasn’t defended since September 2013, according to a report by Boxing Scene’s Miguel Rivera.

Mayweather reportedly earned at least $220 million USD, but still owes a $200,000 USD sanctioning fee.
